I wish that writers like myself, and many others, would not measure success only by the number of books that have sold of your latest novel. It may be a measure, but it’s not the most important one when creating fiction (or nonfiction). Just saying…….
So true!! Our culture and industry really celebrates the blockbuster books, but the reality is those are outliers and not feasible (or even desirable!) for every author or every book. "Overnight" successes are so often the result of years of work and/or publication before finally getting mainstream recognition. What are some of your measures of personal success?
