Thank you so much for these thoughtful words. My newest book was published on Amazon last Friday, as the virus news was getting worse. I put off a book launch reception and know that two trips to present my book in other states will have to wait.
John David Ferrer, author of The Shape of Courage. Apropo title for the times, isn’t it?
Allison, This post is so helpful. I appreciate the practical suggestions, but especially the writerly support and solidarity. My nonfiction picture book, "Free for You and Me: What Our First Amendment Means," illustrated by Manu Montoya, is out this month. All launch events have been canceled, as well as a couple of conferences at which I'd planned on presenting. I'm working with my local indie bookstore (which has a special deal this month of free delivery in-state) to offer signed and personalized copies to those who order online from the bookstore ... and hoping that parents and teachers and others will be buying plenty of books. I'm also working to review and promote (and buy!) the March/April releases of other book creators. And hoping we all treat each other well as we face this crisis together. Thank you!
This is such a hard time but you are doing all the right things. And kids an teachers need your book! Don’t forget to check in with your local library, see if there’s anything they can do. Will share and good luck!
Thank you for these recommendations and for offering to compile a list. My husband's debut book was published on March 2, supposed to launch at AWP, and he's now facing postponed readings. We've been trying to come up with creative alternatives; your tips are so helpful, thank you! His book: Faculty Brat: A Memoir of Abuse, Dominic Bucca, https://www.uipress.uiowa.edu/books/9781609386856/faculty-brat
So glad these tips were helpful! Feel free to pass them along to others struggling with launches right now. Will be sure to include his book in my round-up thread later this week. Take care!
Thank you so much for these great tips. Publication of my book, The Things We Don’t Say: An Anthology of Chronic Illness Truths, has been delayed due to the pandemic, but it will be out next month. I'm very excited to launch this book, despite the new challenges. http://chronicillnesstruths.com

We definitely all need a little courage right now so sounds like your book will be very necessary. Will share! Be well!
Thank you for all these suggestions and the solidarity. I'm a first-time author with a book launching on April 7: Strong Like Her, a cultural history about women and physical strength. https://www.simonandschuster.com/books/Strong-Like-Her/Haley-Shapley/9781982120856
What a cool topic! Definitely timely and necessary. Will share. Hang in there <3

Thanks again! I'll try the library also, if it doesn't close ...
Thanks for these words of comfort, Allison, and for actionable items.
My novel, Victorine, is launching March 17, 2020, so soon! Thank you for including me on your list: www.dremadrudge.com.
So soon!! What an intriguing story, it sounds like readers can really take inspiration from Victorine’s story. Will share and be well!
Thank you so very much! I'm so grateful!!
